Powell Industries' $1.6B backlog and new data center orders should keep a good bid under the stock. Its chart is one of the few near-perfect setups in this market, and IBD named it Stock of the Day. x.comÂ

Powell Industries is a super-cycle story, and Wall Street looks far too low on its revenue growth, with incremental margin gains still to come. The stock broke out to an all-time high. x.comÂ
Powell Industries is the source-agnostic way to play AI power demand, because its custom heavy-duty switchgear is needed whatever generates the power and protects multi-million-dollar clusters from power surges. Per Bloomberg, AI-chip electricity demand could jump more than 1,100% by 2033, with the US taking 64%. Powell's $2.4B backlog, with visibility into 2028, shows data-center operators locking in gear early to avoid grid delays. x.com x.comÂ
Powell Industries is a quality grid business priced too richly at 57x trailing earnings after a 175% gain this year. Its custom medium-voltage switchgear for data centers comes from few qualified vendors; orders nearly doubled to $490M, backlog is $1.8B, it won a record $400M+ data center contract, and gross margins rose from 16% to nearly 30%. But the valuation needs it to become a capacity-constrained AI power platform, and if AI capex slows in 2027, the multiple compresses first. x.comÂ
Quanta Services' wide moat, huge backlog and free cash flow make it an appealing portfolio holding. Its Q3 earnings materials report record backlog of $63.7 billion and free cash flow of $1.20 billion, with 37.1% organic revenue growth and higher full-year revenue and adjusted EPS guidance. x.comÂ
Meta's unmet AI demand pays its bottleneck suppliers. Super Micro's $19.5B quarterly outlook and under 8x forward earnings point to a double. CoreWeave's Meta deals total $35.2B; it should easily top $100. Builders say nearly all new sites use Dell or Super Micro; Dell could easily double. Micron's demand is off the charts at 5x forward earnings. Sources say Vertiv's gear is sold out for 2-3 years. VivoPower has 2GW+ potential in 5-7 years. Digi Power X has a $1.1B Cerebras deal. x.com x.com … Show more
Vertiv should beat and keep raising 2026 guidance because AI data center demand still exceeds supply. The proprietary pipeline added 50+ GW in 1Q26, 415 GW in the US since January 2023. Even flat orders near $18 billion would lift backlog from $15 billion to about $18 billion, implying about $25 billion of 2027 sales versus the Street's $16.9 billion. Base EPS of $6.75/$9.50 for 2026/27 tops the Street at a PEG under 1x. Margins are the watch item; the big run makes the print less attractive. … Show more
Forgent Power Solutions is still one of the best growth stories in the market, and its post-earnings rally is the market catching up to an accelerating order book. Revenue grew 94%, and $1.5B of bookings in one quarter lifted book-to-bill to 3.3x. The $3.0B backlog covers all of fiscal 2027, whose guide of 76% revenue and 95% EPS growth is a floor after three straight beats of the top end. At $39 it trades at 29x forward earnings, a PEG of 0.3, while industrials growing 10% trade at 25x. x.comÂ
TTM Technologies' data center and networking business is growing fast enough to become half or more of the company, a shift expected eventually but that showed up in a single quarter. Its end markets are strong, including circuit boards for TPUs and aerospace and defense. The stock is probably getting a little extended here. x.comÂ
Forgent Power Solutions is one of the few US makers able to supply data centers with fully custom high-voltage power distribution systems, which AI's growing power needs require. Q3 revenue rose 103% to $379M versus $292M expected, record orders of $867M rose 308%, backlog grew 157% to $1.98B with a 2.3x book-to-bill, and guidance was raised. Short lead times and deep customization are hard to copy. The stock broke out of a three-month base; pullbacks to $44 or the $40 EMA20 are good entries. … Show more
Modine Manufacturing is a pure play on data-center thermal management, and its November 18 investor day could send it higher if it confidently sets big 2028-29 targets. It already cites two hyperscalers and one neocloud as customers, and which hyperscalers they are does not matter. Its valuation, which had grown stretched along with Vertiv's, now looks more intriguing than ever. x.comÂ
