Marvell's $70-90 billion FY31 revenue target looks credible: COO Chris Koopmans said key foundry, substrate and packaging suppliers get five-year forecasts and had already seen it before investor day. A $500 price target still looks too aggressive for now; Marvell must show it can grow its networking and photonics segment to deserve a safe price increase. x.com x.comÂ
Marvell can become the next $1 trillion company, which makes the investing case simple. Jensen Huang was cited as saying so, and even if that comment actually referred to AMD, Marvell can still reach the mark. x.com x.comÂ
Marvell's ambitious long-range outlook is encouraging about hyperscaler and AI-lab spending plans, but hitting it depends on AI revenue and token consumption soaring through decade's end. Even if its FY28 estimates rise again, Marvell trades at a healthy premium to Nvidia and Broadcom, especially on a GAAP basis, and those two are growing fast too. x.comÂ
The Lumentum merger makes Marvell's path toward a $1 trillion valuation look clearer if it executes well. Jensen Huang had called Marvell the next $1 trillion company. Lumentum's demand is sold for the next two to three years, though whether that gives Marvell an edge remains an open question. Marvell looks like a long-term opportunity, but the route to building a position is still unclear. x.comÂ
A Lumentum deal would put Marvell in a much better competitive position, making its shares an obvious buy here, especially for existing Lumentum shareholders. If the deal breaks, Marvell shares would jump sharply; a moderate premium could mean near-term weakness or sideways trading but would be a great long-term deal. A big premium could push shares down further, though much of that risk is already priced in. x.com x.comÂ
Marvell's strong quarter was already priced in, so a sell-the-news decline is likelier. Q2 revenue rose 37% to $2.739B, data center revenue 46%, and Q3 guidance of $3.15B beat estimates; management sees custom silicon revenue more than doubling in FY28 and a path to about $18B of FY28 revenue. But the Google partnership and AI growth were largely traded ahead, and the stock never broke its rising channel's top. Long term, it is still a good company to add to at better prices before the midterms. … Show more
Marvell is down 16% from its recent all-time high despite strong signals that aren't being talked about enough. Jensen Huang called it the next trillion-dollar company on June 2, President Trump made his largest purchase, $5.25M of Marvell, in July, and Marvell signed a custom chip partnership with Alphabet last month. x.comÂ
Marvell has upside after a solid quarter and higher fiscal 2027 and 2028 guidance, driven by 50%+ data-center growth and 70% interconnect growth. New Microsoft custom chips and optical could add more, with possible earnings power of $10 per share in fiscal 2029. x.comÂ
Marvell falling on a strong quarter and guidance usually means all the good news is already priced in. x.comÂ
Marvell looks interesting at less than 30x calendar-2027 EPS against expected 60-70% annual EPS growth, but overpaying for Lumentum could drive its shares lower. Marvell could pay up to $110B, roughly a 30% premium; the stock-versus-debt mix is unclear, and Lumentum holders might own a third of the combined company. If the deal falls apart, Marvell could rise 10-12%. x.comÂ
