Ondo is positioned for tokenized stocks onchain, a trend that could get much bigger, and adoption should bring more demand for the token. Its stock products hold $1.19 billion and its yield-bearing dollar token USDY $2.28 billion. New BlackRock-designed portfolios hold Ondo's stock and ETF tokens, and institutions can supply tokens using shares held through Alpaca, potentially cheapening liquidity. ONDO's token captures too little of Ondo Finance's value, and without a large buyback it risks being outpaced by RWA tokens that adopt fee switches sooner. The Ondo Network launch strengthens the ONDO thesis by making Ondo an emerging financial infrastructure stack for tokenized assets rather than just an RWA project, a much larger opportunity. Issuance is only the first layer; value comes from liquidity, execution, settlement, privacy and DeFi use. Ondo and Centrifuge are building the issuance, distribution, liquidity and asset-management rails that benefit as more assets move onchain, and their value does not yet reflect how fast the product layer is expanding. Tokenized stocks, at $2.46B of market cap, produced $808M of daily volume, about 60% of the total, while tokenized ETFs at $583M traded $163M, turnover close to stocks and almost 5x commodities. Ondo's token has no value accrual, so tokenization's growth isn't flowing to holders. What Ondo is building is really good, as tokenization is the future, but not every project needs a token. RWA products built to work inside DeFi, such as Ondo's USDY, Maple's Syrup and Centrifuge, are the lanes that can grow while most tokenized Treasuries stay locked behind compliance rails. Only about 10% of RWA liquidity is active in DeFi, including $184M of $7B in gold and $78M of $2.2B in equities. USDY crossed $1B TVL across nine chains because it was built composable first.
