Aehr Test Systems has a proven lead in a test step AI optics needs but few can run at scale: high-power wafer-level burn-in for silicon photonics. Co-packaged optics makes it mandatory, since a chip failing after bonding scraps the whole switch, and newer devices need 2-4x more burn-in power. Bookings hit $37.2M, up over 500% in a quarter, at a book-to-bill above 3.5x. Goldman sees optical networking growing from about $15B in 2026 to $154B by 2028, and the test bottleneck forms first. x.com 

Applied Optoelectronics' laser capacity could be worth much more if Marvell pays over $100B for Lumentum. That price would show how valuable laser capacity is and, in that scenario, AAOI could reach $200 within a quarter or two. The deal is only a rumor, and its price is unknown. x.com 

Aehr Test Systems' valuation looks ahead of its fundamentals after a strong turnaround quarter. Q4 FY2026 revenue rose 33% to $18.8 million with a return to GAAP profit, bookings hit a record $60.7 million and effective backlog topped $100.6 million. FY2027 guidance of $130-150 million implies 160-200% growth, so the post-earnings run prices in high expectations that depend on shipping FOX-XP systems on schedule without margin erosion. Aehr Test Systems' lead silicon-photonics customer has moved from engineering to volume production: its first fully automated FOX-XP system is installed, qualified and running, and new orders now come from that deployment. The system burns in nine 300mm wafers in parallel with an automated WaferPak AutoAligner. The bull case is reasonable: a young company with a strong position in silicon carbide burn-in, genuine hyperscaler interest in AI chip burn-in and room to expand into memory and logic. But the latest quarter showed revenue down 43% year over year, with no meaningful order conversion from the AI opportunities yet.
