Institutional onchain lending against tokenized real-world assets is the next big rail, turning RWAs from passive yield products into active collateral. Onchain RWAs total about $31B, up 66%+ YTD, and RWA lending TVL exceeds $18B with a path to $50B+ by 2027. RWA products built to work inside DeFi, such as Ondo's USDY, Maple's Syrup and Centrifuge, are the lanes that can grow while most tokenized Treasuries stay locked behind compliance rails. Only about 10% of RWA liquidity is active in DeFi, including $184M of $7B in gold and $78M of $2.2B in equities. USDY crossed $1B TVL across nine chains because it was built composable first. The Clarity Act and the SEC's innovation exemption could ease restrictions this year and lift DeFi adoption. x.com 

Lending tokens fall short of the sector's strong economics because team conduct and uneven holder returns undermine them. Lending capital is sticky and protocols have pricing power, but Aave rugged its DAO and Compound rugged. Morpho signaled no interest in buybacks; Kamino is silent. Maple's buybacks are small, about a tenth of revenue, and inconsistent. Spark buys back about half its revenue, but revenue is very inconsistent. The sector is great; these projects are not. x.com 

Ethereum's case rests on keeping and widening its lead in real-world assets, the market it has spent the last couple of years positioning itself to own. It needs to keep dominating RWA DeFi TVL, and if the RWA thesis plays out, Ethereum is where that value should settle. x.com 

Solana now has the complete stack for real-world assets: 300K+ holders, over $16B of stablecoins and Mastercard and MoneyGram rails give tokenized assets the liquidity and distribution they needed. Per @Hercules_Defi, over $4B of RWAs are tokenized on Solana, $5.8B of tokenized-equity spot volume traded in Q2 and Solana captured about 97% of cumulative equity volume, with BlackRock's BUIDL above $550M there. x.com 

Aave's protocol fees do not reach token holders because Labs controls DAO governance and votes itself grants. Labs voted itself $25 million for operations and $17.5 million in performance incentives, including $5 million for launching an app. Buybacks were paused after the rsETH bridge exploit and have not resumed. Aave is adopting it for institutional RWA lending, a massive development for LINK's role in always-on finance. Tokenized stocks are starting to generate another source of potential borrowing demand for Aave. Coinbase-issued stock token deposits on Aave V4 Base crossed $10 million, up 514% in 30 days. Eligible holders can borrow USDC without selling their stock exposure, though they face liquidation risk. x.com 

AAVE is under pressure as holders send tokens to exchanges, which usually signals selling. A $292M exploit left about $200M of bad debt, and roughly $6.6B has since left the platform. Aave is still a big DeFi project, but it is not in a good spot right now. x.com 

Bank coverage could help traditional finance underwrite DeFi and eventually allocate capital to it. Citi published a 24-page report on Aave, while Standard Chartered began covering Uniswap, Aave and Sky, even though banks do not make money covering DeFi as they do stocks. Analysts are learning DeFi in their own language as its businesses and tokens meet traditional-finance standards, an extremely bullish development for the space. x.com
