Rocket Lab's rising Electron output and cost competitiveness could unlock a big European opportunity. COO Frank Klein says next year's production will exceed twice 2024's 15 rockets and argues buyers would not pay two or three times as much merely for a German-built rocket. He says Rocket Lab is discussing launch capacity with Germany and ESA, while Germany plans $41.1 billion in defense-space spending over five years. 2027 looks like a huge year for Rocket Lab. x.com

Rocket Lab's defense contracts and backlog position it to benefit from national-security spending. Its $2.36B backlog includes over 100 booked launches, with an $816M SDA satellite deal and a $266M Space Force HASTE deal for hypersonic testing. Despite the Neutron delay, its $36B valuation offers one of the space sector's best risk-reward setups: exposure to the same defense and space-infrastructure trend as SpaceX at a fraction of its valuation. Rocket Lab is headed above $100. x.com

Orbital data centers may take far longer than investors expect, if they happen at all. SpaceX sells compute on Earth and invests in power and cooling there, widening the hype-reality gap. SpaceX, Rocket Lab, AST SpaceMobile and Redwire could be dead money for years while the vision catches up. x.com

Rocket Lab's growing Space Systems business positions it to provide more than launches for the space economy. It generated $189.5M in Q2, 81% of revenue; if its pending Iridium acquisition closes, it would gain a global satellite communications network. At about $51, this is one of the most compelling long-term opportunities in the space sector over 3-5 years, provided it keeps executing. Neutron's launch has slipped to 2027, and execution risks remain. x.com  x.com  x.com

Rocket Lab is underestimated as a launch company when it is building a broader space infrastructure business, where satellites, components, spacecraft systems and national-security demand could matter as much as launches. It just signed its largest commercial Electron deal by mission count, 20 launches for Synspective from 2028 to 2031, per Wall St Engine, pushing its launch backlog above 100 missions. x.com

Rocket Lab still looks ridiculously expensive at 29 times forward sales against SpaceX at 22 times, even after a 65% fall. At 22 times, Rocket Lab would be roughly $38, and SpaceX would still be the pick. SpaceX also has better forward guidance; Rocket Lab's negative adjusted EBITDA makes sales multiples the valuation yardstick. x.com  x.com  x.com  x.com

Rocket Lab's existing Space Systems business makes Neutron upside optionality rather than the whole investment case. Space Systems supplied $189.5M, about 81% of Q2's record $234M revenue, alongside Electron launches, defense work, satellite manufacturing and components. Delaying Neutron's first launch to 2027 hurts a major catalyst and raises execution questions, but rushing a rocket failure would be costlier. x.com

Rocket Lab's expanding contracted work improves medium- and long-term revenue visibility. Synspective added 20 dedicated Electron launches for 2028-31, bringing its total to 47; backlog reached $2.4 billion after more than $1 billion in Q2 and early-Q3 awards. Space Systems broadens the business beyond launches, while Neutron's medium-lift upside still depends on reaching operational orbit. x.com

Rocket Lab's delayed Neutron first flight pushes out a key part of its planned launch capacity. Flight one has moved to 2027, at least 1.5 years later than the previously indicated timing; the lack of clearer guidance is frustrating. The stock could fall 50% if it breaks key support, though that downside is conditional. x.com  x.com  x.com

Rocket Lab's Electron should gain major pricing power and margins as SpaceX winds down Falcon 9 rideshare for smaller satellites and companies. Electron is finely tuned, and Rocket Lab's largest-ever Electron deal adds 20 missions from New Zealand's LC-1 for 2028-2031, with launches booked five years out, per @itschrisray. Simultaneous launches from multiple pads worldwide should follow soon. x.com
