BlackSky is evolving from selling satellite images into high-margin AI analytics subscriptions, deeply embedded in U.S. defense and intelligence. In early June the National Reconnaissance Office funded acceleration of its AROS mapping program toward 2028, an international defense client signed a nearly $30 million annual subscription, and the Air Force Research Laboratory awarded a $99 million IDIQ. Gen-3 satellites at 35cm resolution drive demand, and over 70% of revenue comes from governments. … Show more
Planet Labs should go back to at least $50 because its drop on a $1.5B ATM, about 12% of market cap, was an overreaction given its market position and strong financials. It runs the largest commercial Earth-observation fleet, imaging all land daily, with a 10-year-plus archive rivals cannot recreate, sold via 99% recurring subscriptions and sovereign deals. Revenue grows 41%, backlog is $906M, up 72%, and it is disrupting Airbus's dominance, on track to lead space imagery. x.com x.com x.com
BlackSky is not an attractive opportunity compared with bigger-TAM space plays. Replying to @SpaceInvestor_D, who is lukewarm on Rocket Lab acquiring BlackSky and prefers Voyager for its cheaper valuation, Starlab station and lunar positioning, Voyager is the awesome opportunity while BlackSky is not. x.com x.com
BlackSky Technology's Gen-3 satellites show impressive imaging, with onboard AI edge processing a huge advantage. Gen-3 tracked and captured a fast-moving Falcon Heavy in flight in a narrow window, from a satellite traveling 27,000 km/h, and per BlackSky also captured an off-nadir twilight shot of the rocket on the pad. x.com
Space stocks could soar as Goldman Sachs sees the space economy reaching $1.8 trillion by 2035. Rocket Lab, with 70+ launches and new Space Force and NASA contracts, is quietly becoming the second rocket company after SpaceX. AST SpaceMobile's satellites connect directly to phones, with AT&T, Verizon and Vodafone as partners. Voyager is building NASA-backed Starlab to replace the ISS. BlackSky sells real-time imagery under long-term US government deals. SpaceX adds Starlink, Starship and xAI. … Show more
Listed space stocks were sold because SpaceX's IPO vacuumed up the sector's marginal dollar, not because their contracts stopped. AST SpaceMobile launched the three largest comm arrays ever, with 60 carriers signed; Rocket Lab booked $663M from the Space Force in nine days; Planet Labs' backlog exceeds annual revenue; BlackSky printed its first EBITDA-positive quarter; Firefly, a Golden Dome interceptor selectee, trades below its IPO price; and Redwire's revenue rose 90%. x.com
BlackSky stands to benefit as space stocks trade on convexity, with traders strongly preferring the smallest companies; names like Momentus and Ascent Solar have shown some of the most robust price action and volume lately. Traders rapidly shifted to FuelCell as Bloom Energy's momentum faded under its massive market cap, and a similar rotation into small space names like BlackSky can be expected. x.com
Orbital data centers add another thesis for space-sector equities, including AST SpaceMobile, Rocket Lab, Planet Labs and BlackSky. SpaceNews reports that China is backing an orbital data center startup with $8.4 billion in credit lines. x.com
Listed space stocks such as Satellogic, BlackSky, Voyager, Redwire, Intuitive Machines, Planet Labs, AST SpaceMobile and Rocket Lab are the plays ahead of the SpaceX IPO. AST SpaceMobile and Rocket Lab are favorites and still look healthy on the charts despite recent pullbacks. @sunxliao notes the group ranges from about $0.7B to $39B in market cap versus a roughly $1.75 trillion SpaceX IPO valuation, a gap he expects to deliver big returns in coming months. x.com
AgEagle could benefit as the military buys all the cheap small recon drones it can during the Iran conflict. Per @AtomsNotBits, the US Army just placed a $52M+ order for over 2,500 Skydio X10D drones, and AgEagle's specs are similar to Skydio's or better on many metrics, with Skydio's main edge being production capacity. The stock remains weighed down by a shelf allowing about $90M of dilution against a roughly $40M market cap. x.com
