Rocket Lab's defense contracts and backlog position it to benefit from national-security spending. Despite the Neutron delay, its $36B valuation offers one of the space sector's best risk-reward setups: exposure to the same defense and space-infrastructure trend as SpaceX at a fraction of its valuation. It generated $189.5M in Q2, 81% of revenue; if its pending Iridium acquisition closes, it would gain a global satellite communications network. At about $51, this is one of the most compelling long-term opportunities in the space sector over 3-5 years, provided it keeps executing. But the Q3 guide cuts GAAP gross margin to 29-31% from 36.1%, below the ~37.6% expected, with adjusted EBITDA losses widening to $17-23M on low-margin satellite programs, Mynaric integration and Neutron spending. Rocket Lab keeps executing: the US Space Force awarded it a $397M contract to build multiple advanced Flatellite spacecraft for the SB-AMTI program, which detects and tracks airborne threats in real time, and to launch them on Neutron. x.com 

Rocket Lab's expanding contracted work improves medium- and long-term revenue visibility. Synspective added 20 dedicated Electron launches for 2028-31, bringing its total to 47; backlog reached $2.4 billion after more than $1 billion in Q2 and early-Q3 awards. Rocket Lab still looks ridiculously expensive at 29 times forward sales against SpaceX at 22 times, even after a 65% fall. At 22 times, Rocket Lab would be roughly $38, and SpaceX would still be the pick. Rocket Lab is one of the very few public space companies with a real chance to compete alongside SpaceX, in a trillion-dollar space economy with room for several major winners as launch demand explodes. It posted a record quarter with a $2.2 billion backlog, won a $30 million Anduril contract, signed its largest launch agreement, was picked with Raytheon for the Space Force's Space-Based Interceptor program, and is acquiring Motiv Space Systems. x.com 

Rocket Lab could face a difficult 9-12 months because much of the space industry's future is already priced into equity valuations, even as its business and backlog grow. A monthly close below the $61 21-month EMA would raise the risk that the uptrend has ended and shift attention toward $35-45 for a better long-term entry; holding $61 preserves a more constructive reading. Rocket Lab delivered a really bullish report. Per @allday_stocks, Q1 revenue of $200.3M beat the $189.41M estimate, up 63.5% year on year, with a record 38.2% GAAP gross margin and backlog up 20.2% quarter on quarter to $2.2B. It sold more launches in Q1 than in all of 2025, guided Q2 revenue to $225-240M versus $205.18M expected, and Neutron remains on track to debut later this year, with defense momentum tied to Golden Dome and hypersonics. x.com
