Frac companies are delivering the biggest surprises relative to their stock prices among oil services, which favors ProFrac, Halliburton, ProPetro, Patterson-UTI and KLX Energy Services. x.comÂ

Halliburton is priced for shrinking margins just as fracking capacity tightens. Revenue has been roughly flat since 2023 while operating margin fell from 17.7% to 13.1% and EPS from $3.13 to $2.37, so it trades at 15.3x expected earnings versus about 22x for SLB and Baker Hughes. Years of underinvestment have left less North American frac equipment, and management says its fracking schedule is fully booked. Each one-point margin gain adds about $0.20 of EPS. x.comÂ
ProPetro can be rerated as a power producer in the next few months, with its Caterpillar power generation partnership a really big deal. It covers 2.1 GW over five years against a $2 billion market cap, more deals should come, and the stock should go a lot higher. The deal also helps its fracking equipment business. It may be a slower mover than small-cap tech and get dragged around by peace-talk headlines. x.com x.com x.comÂ
Chevron already has producing Venezuelan ventures, but expanded agreements still need drilling, dependable power, crews and equipment before more barrels can be sold. Its three ventures were producing about 280,000 barrels a day at the July earnings call, and production had grown 15% year to date by September. Keep holding Chevron, but past gains do not justify buying more at any price. x.com x.com x.com x.comÂ
Natural gas faces a real but temporary 2027-2030 price spike as LNG and AI demand outrun buildout lead times, rather than Chronometer's structural, permanent rise. That mechanism is sound and little disputed on timing: processing takes 2-3 years and new frac capacity is unlikely before late 2028-2029. But Chronometer's export and depletion assumptions clash with 2025-26 data, as Haynesville output grew about 2.4 Bcf/d at roughly $4 gas. Rebalancing should follow once capacity catches up. x.com … Show more
Mammoth Energy Services' air rental business is gaining traction and should benefit from increased infrastructure projects. It is a low-quality company, but with about $2.76 of cash per share against a $2.80 price, it can buy back a good chunk of its shares. x.comÂ
US energy stocks are mispriced by extrapolation bias, priced for a world that has already changed. In Q1 2026, tech and communication services posted 50%+ earnings growth while energy printed -4%, the only sector FactSet flagged for a downward revision. Ex those two sectors, S&P 500 growth was 9.3%. The 10 largest energy stocks carry a 36-month beta of 0.0003 and an 8% free-cash-flow yield on trailing $65 oil. x.comÂ
