Semiconductors could capture scarce spot compute's value if its forward curve holds. Compute trades in deep contango, while chip stocks price in little of that value; near-term moves are unpredictable. That makes the sector very bullish. The earlier lab-funding risk looks less acute: Anthropic should hold nearly $200B cash after its IPO and is operating-cash-flow profitable. Semiconductor gains will now have to come from earnings growth rather than multiple expansion, but NVIDIA at 19x forward earnings can still make money. Rising margins normally compress multiples because peak margins signal peak cycle; this cycle ran long and euphoric buying drove multiples up, so a correction was bound to happen. SK hynix trades at 4.4x forward earnings with a 0.04 PEG, Micron at 4.6x and 0.11, Sandisk at 5.5x and 0.10, and Nvidia at 14.2x and 0.22; the table extends across chipmakers and suppliers.
