The deal took about ten months to arrive after first being teased, with the stock going nowhere meanwhile. The client is likely Oracle, given the 'top 5 hyperscaler' wording; another win is possible, but probably not from Google or Amazon, leaving few candidates. x.com

Interconnect and memory-bandwidth bottlenecks could limit AI scaling, which makes silicon photonics and better networking significantly more important and should make Lumentum and Coherent much more prominent. Google's From AGI to ASI paper warns that as models grow, time spent moving data between memory and compute, or between nodes, can become the dominant factor, causing diminishing returns unless novel hardware or interconnect technologies are developed. x.com 

Google's MediaTek-built TPU v9 should lift Semtech's content per chip. Per @StockSavvyShay, the Triggerfish variant adds SRAM, HBM4E memory and a simulation die, so data must travel farther and faster in the rack, pushing electrical links to their limit. MediaTek's SerDes is leaner than Broadcom's, so links need extra help, which Semtech's signal conditioners and redrivers supply; Google reportedly already relies on them. Alphabet's stock gains from about $150 to $350 were driven by strong model releases, and now Gemini is no longer on the frontier. Gemini 3.1 still trails GPT 5.5 and Opus 4.8, and the new Gemini Flash 3.6 was unimpressive, neither as good nor as cheap as frontier models. Alphabet's multiple can only expand if the market believes it is an AI winner, so the perception that Gemini is losing could keep the stock flat for a while. Western Digital is about to play catch-up with the memory space. It has lagged as Micron, Sandisk, Samsung and SK Hynix ride NAND, DRAM and HBM price spikes, because it rides capacity storage for AI data lakes, which is real demand but a different, slower-moving market. x.com
