CoreWeave's financing looks more vulnerable amid a debt-market pullback for AI-data-center-dependent companies. Elon Musk says access has almost entirely shut off in recent weeks for firms without substantial revenue outside AI data centers, and expects few of the 200-plus neoclouds to survive consolidation. x.comÂ
Rising GPU rental rates and Anthropic's compute margins challenge claims of collapsing demand for CoreWeave's capacity. The WSJ reported Anthropic's first-half revenue of $16.3B against $9B in compute and infrastructure spending; Bloomberg reported its Q3 compute margin above 40%. Long contracts and fully amortizing loans cushion demand declines but cap upside. Despite the challenging neocloud model, CoreWeave's risk/reward is by far the best and its quality well ahead of peers. x.com x.com … Show more
Meta's data edge and poaching of top talent support its in-house AI development against rivals buying projects to integrate. Only Google matches its data; Anthropic and OpenAI cannot really compete without funding. Meta is taking some of Google's ad share, which should reduce Google's free cash flow. x.comÂ
Meta reportedly building its own cloud after committing $35B to CoreWeave means the customer may be becoming the competitor, CoreWeave's nightmare. More broadly, Meta entering cloud compute is the clearest signal yet that GPU capacity has commoditized, with the bottleneck moving to power delivery, optical interconnects and custom silicon, so a company selling compute is not the AI winner. x.com x.comÂ
AI compute demand makes CoreWeave and Nebius probably not bad tactical buys. Anthropic had been slowing but accelerated in September, OpenAI is taking share, and open-source models still need compute. Credit issues remain, though worries feel near a peak and the stocks feel near a local bottom. x.comÂ
Meta Platforms is worth owning because its core business keeps growing 20-30% a year and prints a ton of cash, yet it trades at a teens forward P/E, the cheapest in the Mag 7. The discount is deserved: Metaverse and AI bets have not paid off and it lacks a cloud platform. Still, AI will keep making its ads more efficient, and an overbuilt data center could become a cloud-style offering. Alphabet and Amazon remain preferred, but at $600 and below Meta looks very attractive. x.com x.comÂ
Hardware suppliers and VC keep financing cash-hungry labs and neoclouds, making compute rental prices at CoreWeave, Nebius and IREN look artificially supported. Lab revenue growth is finally plateauing at 800% year over year after roughly tenfold equity gains across the stack over the last decade. The buildout is also crowding out the economy's appetite for debt. x.com x.com x.com x.com x.com x.comÂ
Cloud providers face a higher risk that AI labs will not meet their compute commitments as models commoditize. Labs have committed hundreds of billions in spending, which only works if the industry consolidates around them; instead, more companies keep entering the race. Meta, absent a year ago, is now ahead of Google. That is bad for the AI trade, while CoreWeave and Oracle credit spreads are widening. x.comÂ
Meta is doubling down on AI, not retreating, contradicting last week's bear narrative that tanked markets. Per an internal Meta memo reviewed by Reuters, it will deploy 7 GW of computing this year and double that to 14 GW in 2027, backed by multi-year supply deals with Samsung Electronics, Sandisk and Sumitomo Electric. Mark Zuckerberg, tweeting for the first time in three years, signaled that Meta's AI model efforts are just getting started. x.com x.com x.com x.comÂ
Meta's unmet AI demand pays its bottleneck suppliers. Super Micro's $19.5B quarterly outlook and under 8x forward earnings point to a double. CoreWeave's Meta deals total $35.2B; it should easily top $100. Builders say nearly all new sites use Dell or Super Micro; Dell could easily double. Micron's demand is off the charts at 5x forward earnings. Sources say Vertiv's gear is sold out for 2-3 years. VivoPower has 2GW+ potential in 5-7 years. Digi Power X has a $1.1B Cerebras deal. x.com x.com … Show more
