Enphase Energy should return to the $70s or higher soon on its solid-state transformer for AI data centers. Enphase says power modules for its IQ Solid-State Transformer are being built in Texas to assemble and validate full-scale racks that convert medium-voltage AC directly to 800 VDC, reducing the need for battery buffering near AI compute racks. Enphase's real story is the 1.25 MW IQ Solid-State Transformer it is developing for data centers, which converts medium-voltage AC directly to low-voltage DC in a single stage. Enphase and SolarEdge are a paired bet on AI data center power electronics. Both bring deep bidirectional conversion and safety expertise from residential and microgrid markets, which data centers need for sudden power swings as GPU clusters cycle and for fail-safe protection where one breaker failure can destroy a rack. Vertiv's power and cooling gear is benefiting from the AI data-center build-out. Q3 net sales rose 61%, operating profit 90% and net income 92%. There is no more direct picks-and-shovels bet on AI infrastructure than Vertiv. Grade: A. x.comÂ
Enphase's US home-solar demand still has not stabilized, delaying its potential home-power recovery to 2027. Q4 revenue guidance of $225-255M is about 20% below the Street at the midpoint, and guided gross margin falls to 40-43% from 45%. Higher electricity costs from AI demand could eventually favor homes generating and storing power; its IQ Battery 5G stores about 50% more energy and costs about 40% less to make. Enphase is one of the most asymmetric opportunities in the market because the US is banning Chinese solar inverters and Enphase is one of the largest US inverter makers. Enphase is asking for a re-rate before transforming its business, which fundamentally does not work. It sells rooftop hardware to homeowners who just lost the tax credit, and Q1 revenue fell 20% year on year. Its GaN and custom-ASIC power platform for AI is credible engineering, but volume is not until 2028 and the solid-state transformer has zero named customers. Energy infrastructure looks like the next memory trade, as the AI race shifts from software to energy. China produces about three times as much energy as the US, and Musk and Jensen Huang said every 5GW of new energy adds about 1% to US GDP. AI needs power, cooling and infrastructure, so the companies enabling the buildout, from Vistra, Constellation and GE Vernova to Bloom Energy, Vertiv, BWXT, Cameco, Enphase and Tesla, are worth accumulating on weakness. x.com x.comÂ
AI power-chain suppliers tied to the 800VDC data-center shift are just starting their first leg higher, and the higher up the chain the better. They span GaN and SiC chips (Navitas, Power Integrations, Texas Instruments), solid-state transformers (SolarEdge, Enphase, Eaton), bus and point-of-load power (Monolithic Power, Infineon), heat (Vertiv, Modine) and volatility management (Fluence). Enphase is still a business in contraction: Q2's sequential improvement came almost entirely from safe-harbor shipments booked ahead of tax-credit deadlines, not returning end demand. Those deals pull volume forward, and a tariff refund after the Supreme Court voided IEEPA tariffs flattered GAAP results one time. US revenue, the large majority, is still shrinking. The IQ Solid-State Transformer is an interesting second act, but one clean demand-driven quarter is needed first. x.comÂ
Per Truist, AI data center capacity grows from 24GW to 100GW by 2030, and every watt must be converted, stored and cooled before a GPU runs, paying firms between grid and chip. DC-DC conversion is the layer to watch, as rising density makes each efficiency point worth more: Monolithic Power, Vicor, Infineon, TI, Analog Devices, Renesas, onsemi. Panasonic appears in six layers and Delta in four, paid more than once per rack. Eaton, Vertiv, GE Vernova, Schneider and ABB bring power in. x.comÂ
