FuelCell Energy looks asymmetric now that its funding and equity raise are behind it, leaving a huge cash balance alongside good data-center traction. x.comÂ

FuelCell Energy is an asymmetric setup: sentiment is still mixed, but upside could expand fast if its data-center story gains traction. It recently highlighted a packaged 12.5 MW solution for data centers and manufacturing expansion plans, and is tied to a collaboration targeting up to 450 MW of data-center deployments. Its June 8 Q2 2026 results call is a near-term catalyst. It is not a low-risk bet, but one worth owning here. x.comÂ
FuelCell Energy could ride AI data-center power demand with high-temperature fuel cells for clean baseload, scaling 12.5MW FuelCell Blocks for hyperscalers. At about a $650 million market cap, it has $170 million of TTM revenue, Q1 up 61%, a $1.17 billion backlog, $312 million of cash and output ramping to 350MW. Risks are negative gross margins, cash burn, dilution and unproven execution; @SueWallSt notes its 1.5GW of data center deals are proposals and backlog shrank. High risk, high reward. … Show more
FuelCell Energy's challenge is scaling, not demand, and scaling can be lumpy and more cash-heavy than estimated. Fuel cells are well placed, with Bloom accelerating and queued data centers favoring behind-the-meter power, but battery makers struggled to scale despite huge demand. It is unclear whether the recent raise fully funds capacity plans or leaves enough cushion to survive setbacks without more cash, and that margin of safety drives the valuation. x.comÂ
FuelCell Energy offers data centers on-site power without waiting on the grid, and Fit Energy's zoning-approved, fuel-cell-powered data center in Newport Township, Pennsylvania, built on its technology, is the whole bull case in one deal. Oppenheimer initiated at Outperform with a $24 target, citing data-center demand outpacing supply, and Craig-Hallum at Buy with $22. Shares broke out of a symmetrical wedge, jumping 14% to $20.65 and reclaiming the 20- and 50-day EMAs; $20 is the trigger. x.comÂ
FuelCell Energy's strength continues after it secured $49 million in EXIM financing to advance US clean energy exports. That follows its new AI infrastructure customer for utility-scale fuel cells, which shows the business scaling as a legitimate contender in energy, with $40 possibly next. x.comÂ
FuelCell Energy is not worth buying when even its holders call its management bad, because a bad team will show through whatever the opportunity. @babyfolio, who owns it, says management is garbage and execution risk is high, while arguing the data center pivot has created real demand. With so many good names in the market, there is no reason to own a stock where you have to eat around the rot. x.comÂ
FuelCell Energy being the named fuel-cell partner for the Newport Township data-center project is huge, provided the company actually builds the capacity. Per @ThematicTrader, the project spans 1,386 acres of former mining land, and while the Fit Energy contract maxes out at 380 MW, the site could support about 1.2 GW of IT load. Management still makes it a low-quality company, though good execution could change that. x.com x.comÂ
FuelCell Energy is gaining Wall Street support and data-center business. B. Riley set a new $32 price target, after Canaccord Genuity upgraded it to Buy with a $30 target and Jefferies upgraded it to Buy with a $24 target earlier in June. FuelCell also signed a strategic agreement with Fit Energy for up to 380MW of baseload on-site power for data centers, with an immediate deposit for an initial 30MW starting later this year. x.comÂ
FuelCell Energy still sells power and product for less than they cost to make, funding the gross loss with equity while waiting for a 500 MW factory expansion by 2028 that may lower costs. Q3 revenue fell 29% to $33.0M as gross loss widened to $24.5M; product costs and overhead exceed contract pricing on its energy deal, with $17.0M of Phase 0 charges. Cash reached $737.3M only after selling 16.4M shares. A 75 MW Texas data-center reservation and up to $1.3B of backlog do not change that. x.comÂ
FuelCell Energy is a mini Bloom Energy: a company left for dead and heavily shorted that is finally finding a foothold in the AI world. Even if it doubled, it would be worth about $4 billion versus Bloom's $80 billion. x.comÂ
