FuelCell Energy is gaining Wall Street support and data-center business. B. Riley set a new $32 price target, after Canaccord Genuity upgraded it to Buy with a $30 target and Jefferies upgraded it to Buy with a $24 target earlier in June. FuelCell also signed a strategic agreement with Fit Energy for up to 380MW of baseload on-site power for data centers, with an immediate deposit for an initial 30MW starting later this year. x.com 

FuelCell Energy being the named fuel-cell partner for the Newport Township data-center project is huge, provided the company actually builds the capacity. Per @ThematicTrader, the project spans 1,386 acres of former mining land, and while the Fit Energy contract maxes out at 380 MW, the site could support about 1.2 GW of IT load. FuelCell Energy is not worth buying when even its holders call its management bad, because a bad team will show through whatever the opportunity. @babyfolio, who owns it, says management is garbage and execution risk is high, while arguing the data center pivot has created real demand. FuelCell Energy is an asymmetric setup: sentiment is still mixed, but upside could expand fast if its data-center story gains traction. It recently highlighted a packaged 12.5 MW solution for data centers and manufacturing expansion plans, and is tied to a collaboration targeting up to 450 MW of data-center deployments. A Fairfax County filing shows T5 Data Centers, with 4GW of operating capacity, building a data center with a 60MW FuelCell fuel cell yard. FuelCell Energy's challenge is scaling, not demand, and scaling can be lumpy and more cash-heavy than estimated. Fuel cells are well placed, with Bloom accelerating and queued data centers favoring behind-the-meter power, but battery makers struggled to scale despite huge demand. FuelCell Energy may be on the cusp of a 60 MW fuel-cell data-center deal that would be transformative, though the setup is speculative. Fairfax County filings for T5 Data Centers' planned Virginia site include FuelCell's own data-center deck, suggesting it is the presumptive vendor, although none names it. At $3-4K per kW, equipment alone would bring $180-240 million, more than FY2025's $158 million revenue. Signing could take months, and dilution is the biggest risk. x.com 

FuelCell Energy still sells power and product for less than they cost to make, funding the gross loss with equity while waiting for a 500 MW factory expansion by 2028 that may lower costs. Q3 revenue fell 29% to $33.0M as gross loss widened to $24.5M; product costs and overhead exceed contract pricing on its energy deal, with $17.0M of Phase 0 charges.
