Gold looks to be topping as returning liquidity rotates out of safe havens into higher-beta risk assets. After gold printed a higher high, distribution is starting as smart money takes profits, while bitcoin has just swept its lows. Gold has topped because the business cycle has entered expansion, the phase when gold tops and bitcoin takes over. Gold runs hardest during contractions as a risk-off asset; in past cycles it topped within a week of the turn to expansion, after which bitcoin ran for 420 to 470 days. Gold has had a breather and is back on support, while trends look broken on many other assets and do not reverse easily.
