Per a firm the author quotes, it is focusing on the AI-optimized segment, growing at a 110% compound annual rate versus 25% for broader infrastructure-as-a-service. The basket holds pure plays: Circle and Coinbase for USDC machine payments and rails, DigitalOcean for AI website hosting, Fastly and Akamai for API calls and Cloudflare for edge computing. Akamai is an overlooked AI inference play because its 4,400 points of presence already have power contracts while power is the bottleneck. Seen as a legacy CDN, Akamai can quickly install Nvidia workstation-level GPUs across that network, offering low-latency edge compute cheaper than hyperscalers and suited to enterprise agentic workflows. Cloudflare's valuation, about 28.5x EV/ARR and 453x run-rate GAAP EBIT, leaves little room for its competitive risks. Its SASE and developer-platform businesses face Zscaler, Palo Alto and hyperscalers with far bigger budgets, and OpenAI and Anthropic may keep inference on their own backends. The bull case is crisp and arguably priced in: bot security and edge workloads matter more as agents spread, growth sped up from 27% to 34%, and weekly agent requests doubled in January. x.com 

DigitalOcean is well positioned after transforming from a developer host into an AI-native cloud, per a Q2 summary from @Finsee_main. Q2 revenue growth accelerated to 29% on AI inference demand, its first nine-figure annual commitments lifted remaining performance obligations 12x to $894M, and guidance points to a Q4 exit growth rate above 35%. Cloudflare shares should keep rising as AI-agent traffic lifts demand for edge compute: Oppenheimer reports rising contract values and Workers adoption, with stronger Bot Management and API Shield attachment, and expects Q3 to beat guidance. x.com 

Cloudflare is difficult to buy at about 30x EV/sales because a lot is already priced in, even after a good quarter. Q1 revenue rose 34% to $640 million versus $623 million expected and EPS of $0.25 beat, with strong AI and agentic traction, but remaining performance obligations of $2.54 billion fell short of the roughly $2.61 billion expected. Premium-model inference revenue could support much higher compute pricing for AI infrastructure providers. Evercore models over $120M/MW in potential lab revenue while labs pay roughly $30-50M/MW for compute. Akamai's 7-year, $11.6B cloud deal with Anthropic turns it from an old CDN into an AI inference cloud for one of the biggest AI labs.
