Weixin combines 1.44 billion users with chat, payments, Mini Programs and merchant reach, so its Xiaowei agent can hand work to services that already know the user, a distribution and return advantage. Tencent has the best consumer AI agent position because WeChat already combines identity, payments and Mini Programs, but that may not matter near term. Per The Information, ByteDance grew first-half revenue 30% to about $120B while profit fell to $20B on AI spending. As a private company it can absorb that margin pain, forcing Tencent, Alibaba and Baidu to fund models, compute and distribution before agent revenue is clear. WeChat's Xiaowei follows almost the same product logic, but WeChat has a social graph, mini-programs and payments, a moat Meta lacks.
