Tesla's Cybercab could pay back faster than Waymo's vehicles because its estimated build cost is seven times lower. At 100 miles a day and $3 a mile, a $25,000 Cybercab at $0.25 per mile in operating costs would net about $100,000 a year at a 92% margin, paying back in about three months. A $175,000 Waymo vehicle at $0.60 per mile would net about $88,000 at an 80% margin, paying back in about two years.
