Space stocks could regain high-beta flows as SpaceX lockups end and a probable late-November Anthropic IPO threatens AI stocks, much as SpaceX's IPO hurt space names. Hedge funds are overexposed to the Magnificent Seven and underexposed or max short low-quality high beta; falling rates and toppy oil could make the rotation painful for them through 2027. A stronger SpaceX could lift the wider space-stock basket, including AST SpaceMobile, Rocket Lab, Redwire, Planet Labs, Intuitive Machines, Firefly Aerospace and Voyager Technologies. Per DeItaone, JPMorgan raised its SpaceX price target from $240 to $500 while maintaining Overweight. The seven space stocks rose alongside SpaceX after hours. SpaceX's competitive threat makes AST SpaceMobile less attractive at these levels than SpaceX and Rocket Lab. AST SpaceMobile's weekly chart shows a downtrend and strong outflows, though the stock is near marked support. x.com 

AST SpaceMobile's selloff on SpaceX news looks excessive because the satellite-connectivity market could support multiple winners; AST need not be close to SpaceX to have a place. SpaceX's planned 800 MHz spectrum purchase does not make it more competitive with AST SpaceMobile for mobile-operator partnerships because it will mainly serve direct-to-consumer customers, whom AST is not targeting, according to Deutsche Bank. AST SpaceMobile is losing the nationwide 800 MHz spectrum portfolio it wanted to SpaceX. The stock fell 10.5% on nearly five times normal volume, and the chart's count is in a third wave down. AST SpaceMobile can drift toward $65 if it holds above its $62.19 gamma flip, where dealer hedging steadies the price. The $65 call wall is a soft lid with light call interest, and past it the ceiling for the October 9 week is $75, though little positioning sits behind it. Proposed FCC rules to more than double SCS spectrum are wildly bullish for AST SpaceMobile and SpaceX, the only two SCS license holders. AST trades below the value of its Ligado rights; its agreed deal has almost no chance of FCC blockage despite objections. AST could return to its highs sooner rather than later if the November 9 call clarifies production and Blue Origin keeps moving New Glenn toward the pad. The stock appears to be pricing in near-complete pessimism, including an anticipated delay of beta service into early 2027.
