Microsoft's 50% Azure growth and prospect of positive cash flow in 2027 make the stock look bulletproof. Headcount cuts, lower Anthropic spend, a better Copilot routed to cheaper tokens, and coming proprietary chips and model usage add to the case. Microsoft is losing ground in fast AI innovation and is not cheap enough to compensate. Copilot was strong a few months ago but is no longer competitive in an agent-driven world, and the stock closed below its 200-week moving average for the first time since 2013. At about 21x forward EPS for 22% growth it is solid but not cheap, and compared with Nvidia there is little argument for allocating even 1% of a portfolio to Microsoft. x.com 

Microsoft looks set to break out again, this time on agents after its last breakout came from the cloud rerating. Nadella is making Copilot the operating system for work, unifying chat, coding and long-running agents in one entry point instead of scattering them across Studio, Cowork and GitHub Copilot, to defend against OpenAI and Anthropic selling all-in-one apps to its core enterprise customers. Microsoft is a bigger near-term competitive threat to UiPath than Claude, a point that gets overlooked. Claude is the best standalone model, but large enterprises often block it over security, compliance and data governance, while Microsoft's Copilot is already embedded in daily tools and getting good enough. Microsoft is getting outworked as an infrastructure company. Its 40% Azure growth came entirely from OpenAI, which now runs on other clouds, while Anthropic runs on Google and Amazon. Microsoft's latest earnings showed accelerating Azure growth with broad demand beyond frontier AI labs, capex discipline and Copilot turning the corner. Azure grew 43%, guided to 45%, with nearly 90% of $214 billion cloud revenue from customers outside frontier labs and RPO up 84% to $678 billion. It held capex while squeezing more from existing infrastructure, and can slow chip purchases if demand cools. Microsoft's Azure has little chance against Google Cloud and AWS because the AI infrastructure race is becoming a hardware race. Microsoft is neither a loser nor overvalued, and the bear case misreads it. @jmartinprin argues capex up to 30% of revenue warrants a below-market multiple and that Microsoft ex-Azure is declining. But that business is not declining, and Azure should not be excluded. A real bear case must show AI labs' model and harness integration can beat Office and Copilot incumbency, with productivity gains big enough to override enterprise legal, regulatory and compliance procurement. x.com
