In Q3 2026, automotive revenue fell 3% year over year and energy revenue fell 16%; operating margin was 2.6%, and revenue missed expectations. These numbers are pathetic even for a mature business and embarrassing for a growth darling. T1 Energy is building toward US solar cell production with its G2 plant in Texas. The $425M first phase is underway, the full $850M project should create about 1,800 jobs, and G2 should be producing solar cells by year-end. Tesla scaling its own solar production with SpaceX is not a competitive worry: it reflects a broader trend toward localized manufacturing and confirms the solar market will be big enough for other players. Tesla's promises keep growing while its fundamentals do not. Revenue has not moved since 2023, EPS is down, and shareholders are being diluted while the CEO collects compensation. Execution keeps slipping, with robotaxis, Mars and EV leadership all behind schedule. Its 3.67% profit margin is in Walmart's range, yet Walmart has about 7x the revenue and grows faster, before even considering valuation.
