CoreWeave's heavy debt and negative free cash flow heighten the risk that neocloud contract growth will not fund expansion. It has $104.2B in backlog against $35.6B in debt and negative $5.74B quarterly free cash flow; Nebius has over $40B in contracts but $5.7B quarterly capex and customer-concentration risk. DigitalOcean's diversified cloud model reduces reliance on debt-funded GPU expansion, while TeraWulf avoids direct GPU depreciation but faces capital-intensive construction. x.com
Financing announcements point to more accelerator demand, supporting semiconductors. About $200bn in announced Meta, Anthropic/Broadcom and SpaceX/Nvidia financing likely drives $400bn in XPU purchases. Data centers burn cash until lit, then cash flow 20-40% annually; AI spend rising from 0.1% to 0.5-1% of current payroll could balance the buildout if agents replace roles. Sustainable token demand is the bet, but smaller local models are the bigger risk, though not an immediate concern. x.com … Show more
TeraWulf stands out among bitcoin miners pivoting to AI data centers because its massive 20-year Anthropic deal gives it real legitimacy, and some capacity is already energized, moving it beyond pure hype. Plenty of execution and buildout risk remains before that partnership produces, and the chart is losing its uptrend line, suggesting more short-term chop. Long term, it should do well if the buildout goes well and the AI revolution is real. x.com
Rising GPU rental rates and Anthropic's compute margins challenge claims of collapsing demand for CoreWeave's capacity. The WSJ reported Anthropic's first-half revenue of $16.3B against $9B in compute and infrastructure spending; Bloomberg reported its Q3 compute margin above 40%. Long contracts and fully amortizing loans cushion demand declines but cap upside. Despite the challenging neocloud model, CoreWeave's risk/reward is by far the best and its quality well ahead of peers. x.com x.com … Show more
Meta building a cloud business to sell excess AI compute signals it is dropping out of the frontier AI race, which is very bearish for Meta alone. Per Wall St Engine, Meta is setting up that business, yet its compute is only equal to three CoreWeaves. x.com x.com
TeraWulf's pivot from bitcoin mining to AI compute is drawing financing and analyst support after a reported $19B AI data-center lease with Anthropic. Per Bloomberg, citing CFO Patrick Fleury, it plans about $3.5B of leveraged loans and high-yield bonds, run by Morgan Stanley, to build the Kentucky campus under a 20-year Anthropic lease. Rosenblatt and Bernstein raised targets, with Bernstein seeing up to 70% upside. It must hold above $24.50 to keep its reclaim alive. x.com x.com
Financing strain threatens smaller AI-related plays. Elon Musk says debt markets have nearly closed to firms without substantial non-AI-data-center revenue. Neoclouds, energy, HVAC, electronics and builders will be a much smaller field in a year; its 'guppy' plays can be shorted here toward zero. CoreWeave, IREN and Vertiv look troubled, perhaps Nebius; Ouster, Applied Digital, Ultra Clean, Cipher Digital, WhiteFiber, TeraWulf and IPG Photonics too. x.com x.com
Meta's reported talks to lease about $10 billion of computing power to Anthropic over two years are less exciting than the market seems to think, because hyperscalers are already booked out for years. Meta appears to be getting rewarded despite having no true AI plan. x.com
TeraWulf is a play on the AI capacity shortage, as big AI companies and labs race to lock in capacity years ahead. It builds power-backed AI data centers, and Anthropic signed a 20-year deal with it for 401MW. AI cloud backlogs have surpassed $150B, and one provider said it could sell out its 2027 capacity at today's terms. x.com
Meta's expanded Richland Parish investment undercuts the claim that it has excess compute. It raised its announced investment in the Louisiana AI campus from $10B to over $50B and expanded the site to 5GW of compute capacity, not something a company with excess compute would do. x.com
