First Solar has lost its appeal because of how its bookings have been trending, while power names Vistra and Talen look cheap. x.comÂ

Shoals sits closer to solar's real bottleneck than generation names like First Solar and Array. As cell efficiency keeps improving, highlighted by a singlet-fission result beyond the Shockley-Queisser limit, the constraint moves downstream to the grid, interconnection, storage and power equipment. The better trade is owning that chokepoint rather than every solar name. x.comÂ
JinkoSolar's position improves as Tesla and BYD join the investigation as respondents, backing companies that actually make solar rather than First Solar's approach of litigating and waiting for federal windfalls. BYD's intervention was granted in late May 2026. Elon Musk will likely argue solar is a national security issue, which has a decent shot given the state of AI and energy. JinkoSolar trades at about $15M of enterprise value per GW of annual capacity, versus about $17B for GE Vernova. … Show more

Solar stocks are trades, not investments, because the industry is a perennial long-term loser despite the continued growth of solar power. As Warren Buffett said of airlines, the urge to invest should be resisted no matter how attractive Enphase, Sunrun, First Solar, SolarEdge, Nextracker, Array Technologies, Canadian Solar or even a broad solar ETF may look. That holds even as @optionscjp notes Enphase is turning toward commercial data center projects. x.comÂ
Solaris Energy Infrastructure is a very cheap way to play the US power build-out, now expanding to 3.1GW on booming demand from customers like xAI. Two deals add 900 MW of turbines: 400 MW via the Genco Power acquisition and about 500 MW of turbine delivery slots. The $1.55B cost, about $1.73M per MW, is well above prior purchases, but the company sees clear line of sight to deploy. Stifel estimates the added 900 MW could lift 2028 EBITDA about $300M above the $760M expected, about $15 a share. … Show more
First Solar is the only non-impaired Western solar manufacturer, yet the category leader trades at historically low multiples against its own past and relatively low multiples against basically everything else in the market. Buying it at those valuations is a gift; it looks like a dinger. x.comÂ
T1 Energy's Q2 results answered a short report that had questioned its Q1 cell sourcing. Revenue of $250M beat estimates by $47M, adjusted EBITDA turned positive, and G1 Dallas production was guided to the high end of 3.1-4.2 GW. Clearway signed a 641 MW offtake using domestic cells from the G2 Austin plant that starts up in Q1 2027, and Section 232 polysilicon tariffs take effect in December. It remains the most speculative name on the list, 63% off its high. x.comÂ
Solar is worth being heavily long through Enphase Energy and T1 Energy as it takes a larger share of US power. Per a quoted post, solar generated more US electricity than coal for the first time in May, 12.8% versus 12.2%, and solar plus storage made up 91% of new US power capacity added in Q1. x.comÂ
First Solar looks overlooked, trading near a 2.5-year low relative to the solar sector it leads while that sector sits near a multi-year high. With oil this elevated, a top-quality solar name like First Solar should catch a bid, and its chart shows a potential mini inverse head-and-shoulders bottom. x.comÂ
T1 Energy's real thesis is its first profitable quarter making American solar for the AI power buildout, after emerging from FREYR Battery. Rising institutional ownership is partly just dilution math: shares outstanding rose 41% in a year, shareholders voted to double the authorized count, it still needs about $225 million of funding, and insiders were net sellers over 12 months. x.comÂ
