Algorand's live quantum-resistant accounts give it protection against future threats while much of crypto is still preparing. Coinbase's quantum advisory council names it among the two best-positioned blockchains for the quantum era, and Falcon-1024 accounts are live on mainnet. x.comÂ
Algorand has been building quantum-resistant technology for years and has now processed over 1.6 million post-quantum transactions on mainnet, while much of crypto is only beginning to prepare for the threat of quantum computing. x.comÂ
Bitcoin's quantum risk is manageable because its network could probably be upgraded in about 90 days when quantum technology is eventually created. There is no real substantive threat to the network, and upgrading now would increase the attack layer. x.comÂ
Algorand is serious technology at a silly price. It is a chain used by actual governments, carbon negative, with post-quantum security and real institutional adoption. x.comÂ
Algorand faces a major security-budget problem because of its supply cap. Within three years its security will depend purely on fees, yet the chain is currently a ghost town, leaving no incentive to stake given the opportunity cost. Supply caps are bad design; if they worked, bitcoin would lead in security, which it clearly does not today. x.com x.comÂ
Bitcoin's inability to reverse hacks makes decentralization a weakness as AI threats outpace security. Tether halted $1.8B from the Binance hack, showing the value of intervention; exploits take minutes, patches days or weeks. AI may be a greater threat to crypto than quantum, which Bitcoin has made effectively no progress on. New highs look increasingly distant without a Core-governed quantum-proof roadmap; quantum alone leaves today's elliptic curves under five years. x.comÂ
LayerZero's post-quantum security research adds to the case for looking beyond ZRO as just a bridge token. Aerie aims to protect blockchains from future quantum attacks without slowing them severely; early tests ran on a MacBook without a GPU. It remains research, not a live upgrade. x.comÂ
XRP and Algorand carry major red flags because their decentralization claims are false. XRP's ledger reaches consensus through a literal list of permissioned nodes published by its foundation, which is not decentralized by any stretch. Algorand deserves a place on the list even more, since it still has permissioned elements today. Red flags like these, alongside admin keys that can steal user funds and ecosystem-wide systemic risks, mark such projects as pretenders. x.com x.com x.comÂ
NEAR looks headed higher, with quantum-ready accounts adding to its technology case: co-founder Illia Polosukhin says users can update their account keys to be post-quantum today without moving assets. x.com x.comÂ
ZEC remains worth backing through uncertain AI and quantum threats because its development team has shown the ability to ship quickly enough to adapt as threats emerge; forecasting which cryptographic technology will hold up over medium to long horizons is difficult. x.comÂ
Not owning a small slice of quantum computing is riskier than owning one. May brought about $2B of incentives to IBM, GlobalFoundries, Rigetti and others; June brought two executive orders targeting post-quantum cryptography and useful quantum computing by 2028; China ranked quantum first among future industries; and IBM and the University of Chicago ran a 70-logical-qubit computation classical computers can't simulate. Plays: SEALSQ, GlobalFoundries, Coherent, Keysight, FormFactor. x.comÂ
Bitcoin Cash is a hedge against the quantum threat to crypto because it is already adding quantum resistance. A replying post notes that migrating Bitcoin is a global coordination problem, with millions of users, lost keys and inactive wallets that cannot simply be upgraded. x.comÂ
