AMD is a beast after crushing its first-quarter earnings. Per @StockSavvyShay, revenue of $10.25B beat the $9.85B estimate, data center revenue reached $5.8B versus $5.6B expected, gross margin hit 55%, and second-quarter revenue guidance of $11.2B topped the $10.5B estimate. x.com 

AMD is building an AI infrastructure empire, with accelerating data center growth and large deals setting up a massive leg higher. Q2 2026 revenue rose 50% to $11.54B, data center revenue more than doubled to $6.7B, and Q3 guidance is near $13B. A partnership involving Anthropic points to up to 2 GW of MI450 GPUs in Helios racks, alongside Microsoft work, funded by up to $5B of investment-grade bonds. The uptrend is intact, and per @JPATrades someone sold $8.8M of $550 puts. x.com 

AMD now has to be extraordinary to justify its valuation, because it is priced on what it must deliver in 2027, not on past results. Despite revenue up 50%, data center up 107%, triple-digit profit growth and above-consensus guidance, the stock fell about 8% after hours; great is not enough when great is already priced in. x.com

AMD's bullish hardware case depends on realized GPU prices and costs, not shipments alone: lower selling prices need not lower manufacturing costs. In a conditional September 23 model stress, GPU prices 15% below the reference path with fixed unit costs cut weighted 2030 revenue from $347.84B to $314.76B and free cash flow from $90.13B to $68.59B, about 24% lower. These are weighted outcomes across 16 scenarios, not the standalone Base case. x.com 

AMD's strong quarter turned into a sell-the-news drop because expectations were too high and capex far exceeded estimates. Q2 revenue was $11.54B versus $11.31B expected, data center revenue rose 107% to $6.72B, and Q3 guidance of about $13B beat $12.5B. But capex hit $808M versus $299M expected, about 171% higher, and the stock had already priced in MI450, Helios, AI GPU and server CPU growth, falling about 7% after hours. x.com  x.com 

AMD is held for its strong earnings growth, which, when it continues into the next quarter, is a reason to own a company beyond a good-looking chart. Price and risk then decide whether to take the trade. x.com 

AMD is at peak performance, and Lisa Su is positioning it to become a $1 trillion company in the near future. Q1 was a blowout: data center revenue rose 57% to $5.8 billion on EPYC processor demand and the Instinct GPU ramp, and client and gaming grew 23% to $3.6 billion. Meta plans to deploy up to 6 gigawatts of Instinct GPUs, starting with a custom MI450-based gigawatt, and Samsung is collaborating on next-generation AI memory, including HBM4 for the MI455X. x.com 

AMD's stock has outrun its fundamentals, leaving it a bad investment at today's price despite an extremely bullish long-term outlook for the business. From April 2025 to September 2026, AMD rose 8x while revenue grew 55%; Nvidia rose 2.4x while revenue grew 118%. AMD had previously lagged despite improving fundamentals, but the market's catch-up went too far. Its risk/reward is no longer what it was at roughly 20x forward earnings in 2025; a crash could make it attractive again. x.com  x.com 

AMD and Nvidia are pulling away from everyone else in the AI chip race; it is not Nvidia against the field. AMD's latest earnings showed revenue up 38% year over year and FY26 guidance raised 10% to $11.2 billion, and the stock jumped 18.5% to $466, past Goldman's $450 target. CEO Lisa Su called it a structural shift in the business. x.com
