Memory producers have strong pricing power because customers keep buying even at sky-high prices, which is plainly bullish for Micron, SanDisk and SK hynix. x.com

AI demand for advanced memory is structural, not cyclical, as hyperscalers lock up Micron, SK hynix and Samsung output years in advance. A single AI server needs about 40x the bandwidth of a normal DDR5 chip, and Micron's CEO said it can meet only 50% to two-thirds of customer demand. Memory that once went to Apple, Dell and Lenovo is no longer available; per @KobeissiLetter, Apple raised Mac and iPad prices by $100-300, with Tim Cook calling the hike unavoidable on soaring chip costs. x.com
Micron's ordinary memory could see tighter supply because HBM consumes far more factory capacity than conventional DRAM. Meeting AI demand could thus extend Micron's opportunity beyond AI memory. x.com
Micron and SK hynix pricing in a memory shortage past 2030 extends the memory-cycle case beyond the Street's 2028 expectation. SK hynix's record quarter adds evidence: per Wall St Engine, revenue rose 328% to $78.9B, operating profit rose 632% to $62.8B, and operating margin hit 80%. Agentic and physical AI could add demand as they roll out. x.com x.com
Inflation, rising rates, Chinese competition and rising AI-related financial costs are pressuring the memory market. Micron, Samsung and SK hynix look exposed; waiting for the cycle to turn. x.com x.com
High-bandwidth memory supply may not keep pace with AI demand, supporting the memory makers. Anthropic's S-1 says SK hynix, Samsung and Micron are expanding capacity, but warns that large buyers or competitors could reserve much of the available output. x.com
Rising memory contract prices strengthen the case for memory stocks still far below their highs. JPMorgan forecasts Q4 DRAM prices up 13% and NAND up 18%; Micron is 28% below its 52-week high, Seagate 44%, Sandisk 47% and Western Digital 55%. x.com
The memory sector is finished because China's CXMT has advanced a 4F² DRAM architecture that could greatly increase density. Micron, SanDisk and other memory-stock holders will bleed for months; China will lead AI moving forward, and those stocks are already paying the price. x.com
Micron's bet on 3D DRAM over rivals' 4F2 could give it an edge as AI memory demand rises. Micron expects shortages for at least two more years: HBM per GPU rose 3.6x from H100 to B300, inference memory per server doubled in three years, and agent context grows about 30x annually. It plans further 6F2 nodes, 1-delta DRAM in 2H27 and 400-plus-layer G11 NAND in 2027; processor-stacked vHBM is targeted around 2028. If Micron is right, rivals are spending on the wrong path. Overweight Micron. x.com
Micron, SanDisk and SK Hynix look very bullish because Samsung says the memory shortage will worsen in 2027. x.com
Micron is at its top because memory stocks peak when margins peak, well before the shortage flips to oversupply, expected by 2028. Memory is tech's most brutally cyclical business: shortage, record prices, margins and capex, then new capacity arrives at once and becomes a glut. Micron trades at record highs on record DRAM prices, with memory's biggest capex wave under construction. In past oversupply cycles it fell 90% in 2000, 80% in 2008, 50% in 2018 and 47% in 2022. x.com
A worsening memory shortage in 2027 could favor Micron, SanDisk and SK hynix as AI stocks. Samsung warns that the shortage will worsen then. x.com
