Broadcom controls a growing share of scarce laser supply that fabless rivals must buy from. It said its indium phosphide laser fabs are growing over 3x year on year, while Marvell, MediaTek, Alchip and GUC have no InP fab. Per TrendForce, Broadcom, Lumentum and Sumitomo hold 55% of EML and CW-DFB capacity. If Broadcom says most added InP output goes to module makers, the squeeze on fabless rivals loosens. Separately, permitted sites, not chip demand, increasingly set the deployment calendar. x.com x.com
