Credo expects over $600M in FY2027 revenue across optical DSPs, PICs and modules, not modules alone. Shipments, yields and margins must prove out. Applied Optoelectronics' possible 2028 revenue makes even a 100% takeover premium too small if it delivers on 2027-28 expectations. Revenue of $6-8B in calendar 2028 at an illustrative 8x multiple would imply about $56B in market value, versus $7B today. That is the upside worth holding out for. x.com 

Applied Optoelectronics, Lumentum and Coherent face share losses at US hyperscalers to Innolight. Channel checks favor Innolight gaining share in Q2 2026, at the expense of those three. Per @poezhao0605, a $7B Hong Kong IPO, the largest in years and upsized from $5B on strong demand, has cleared its listing hearing. x.com 

Higher optical-fiber use per GPU could expand demand for Applied Optoelectronics. Corning said fully optical scale-up would raise fiber count from about 16 to 160 per GPU; that 10x case is hypothetical for now, with a mix of technologies likely near term, but it shows the direction of travel. x.com  x.com 

Rising 1.6T switching demand favors optical suppliers, though their execution risks vary. Bank of America says the market could grow ~101% annually through 2030. Marvell's leading DSPs and Lumentum's supply-short 200G EML lasers are lowest risk; Applied Optoelectronics' capacity expansion and Fabrinet's customer concentration make them medium risk. Aeluma remains pre-commercial, while Lightwave Logic's polymer modulators are a high-risk moonshot despite its TSM partnership. x.com 

Applied Optoelectronics is now an execution story with almost no room for error, not a demand story. Its ~$1.1B 2026 target needs Q4 revenue near $484M, up 78% on Q3 guidance, and 2026 operating profit looks closer to $59M than the $140M+ target management didn't repeat. Q2's profit came from a tax benefit. Shares are up 43.7% y/y on ATM sales, DSP and TIA shortages cap 1.6T, and the top 10 customers are 99% of revenue. Q4 near $380-400M would push the whole 2027 model out. x.com 

Optics and photonics should be among AI's biggest winners as faster GPU networks need optical connections that suppliers cannot expand quickly enough. Lumentum says some components are sold out through early 2029; Sivers is investing $30M to target more than 100M lasers a year, with operations expected in Q4 2027. Even half of a rumored jump in Applied Optoelectronics' transceiver shipments would be well above what is priced in. A Substack claims 800G shipments will rise from about 600,000-700,000 to about 5 million next year, plus about 100,000 1.6T units a month; the rumor is low-confidence. x.com 

Applied Optoelectronics' rally was momentum-driven, not evidence of a revolutionary company, and the market is finally figuring that out. The company cannot be blamed for raking in money during a once-in-a-blue-moon rally. x.com 

Applied Optoelectronics should trade above $150, in part because Lumentum's CEO says its optical components are sold out through early 2029 and it cannot meet roughly 70% of demand for some products through 2027. That industry signal strengthens the case for AAOI's expanding 800G/1.6T offerings after completion of its $600M ATM, with shares around $110. x.com
