Bit Digital's discount to NAV is not attractive because its exposure to volatile assets like bitcoin cuts both ways. It works while bitcoin is running, and the company also carries heavy dilution. x.comÂ

Bit Digital deserves to trade at a discount because management is levering its ETH to finance a related party it controls, so shareholders should not value that ETH at NAV. Its new "Strategic Asset Company" label defines a category around its own activities and compares it with DATs and ETFs that do not perform them. Investors can hold ETH themselves; Bit Digital should return the ETH to shareholders and wind down. x.com x.com x.com x.comÂ
Bitcoin's valuation looks stretched relative to network use, raising the risk of selling pressure. Its market value has risen faster than active addresses, lifting the NVM ratio while address activity has not kept up with price. This is a valuation warning, not a definite top like 2021 or 2025, nor a signal that price must fall immediately; it could keep rising with NVM high. x.comÂ
Bit Digital trades at a discount to its assets, about 73 cents per dollar of net asset value. Its WhiteFiber stake is worth about $515M and its 164,842 ether about $420M, versus a $570M market cap; net of convertible debt that is about $2.18 a share versus a $1.59 price. The discount is smaller than it looks: WhiteFiber, 55% of assets, is down 59% since June, and some ether is pledged as loan collateral not subtracted. The stock is up 35% from a double bottom at $1.18. x.comÂ
Strategy isn't a buy even at about 0.8x the value of its bitcoin holdings. The discount reflects market skepticism about management, liquidity and governance, as investors price in execution risk and potential structural issues beyond the BTC exposure. x.com x.comÂ
Strategy's accretive Bitcoin accumulation has raised net backing per share, lowering the premium needed to revisit its $543 intraday high. At $98,000 Bitcoin, backing rose from $127 to $160 since November 2024, cutting the required net mNAV from 4.3x to 3.4x. A 2.5x premium at $200,000-$250,000 Bitcoin would imply roughly $896-$1,131; 2.5x is plausible at peak euphoria, not expected at $126,000. Premiums depend on Bitcoin momentum and sentiment, which Strategy cannot control. x.com x.comÂ
Strive's common ATM can lift long-run returns by funding bitcoin purchases at a share premium. Bitcoin is historically cheap; stacking in a bear market or before the bull market begins drives the biggest gains later. But too much weekly issuance can blunt upside, exhaust investors and cap mNAV expansion; share scarcity matters. The ATM is crucial, but caution is preferable. Cole Macro said preferreds should help keep dilution below Strategy's levels on the way up. x.com x.com x.comÂ
Strategy runs a Ponzi-like loop: new capital buys bitcoin, which lifts the stock and attracts more capital, while the business makes almost no organic cash flow and collapses without constant raising. It trades at a big premium to NAV, effectively selling $1 of bitcoin for $1.50, lost $12.5B in Q1 2026, and has now sold bitcoin for the first time since 2022 despite Michael Saylor's vow never to sell. Owning bitcoin itself makes more sense than owning Strategy. x.com x.comÂ
The VanEck Onchain Economy ETF looks well positioned for a recovery in its beaten-down Texas exposure and a renewed bitcoin bull market. It trailed spot bitcoin by about 2,200 basis points over the past month, giving back part of a 120-point lead through Q2, mainly due to bitcoin miners and powered-land companies in Texas; it is still up about 12% this year. Spot bitcoin is its largest position, other digital assets are a rising share, and it manages leverage and governance risks. x.comÂ
Bitcoin's upside needs lower oil and inflation and stronger risk appetite; that macro shift has not arrived. IBIT holding 46.3 is a good sign, and its topping short-term cycle is not a deal killer. x.comÂ
Bitcoin treasury companies will and should trade at a discount to NAV, since money in a double-tax structure has no reason to trade at a premium to money. Participants are harvesting the premium against each other in a zero-sum game until it flips to a discount, in bull or bear markets. Since tracking began, bitcoin rose 4.9% and Strive's bitcoin holdings 4.7%, yet Strive shares fell 14.8%, leaving bitcoin 19.7% ahead. x.com x.comÂ
