Glass is replacing organic substrates in AI chip packaging, putting LPKF and Corning at its chokepoints. LPKF's laser-induced deep etching is the most advanced production process for crack-free through-glass vias. Glass fixes organic warpage and silicon interposer cost, and is irreplaceable in co-packaged optics, where glass waveguides can match the roughly 9µm fiber mode inside the substrate. Per Yole and QY Research, glass core substrates may grow from $244M in 2024 to $460-586M by 2030. x.com x.com
