ASE's reported advanced packaging price hike of more than 20% shows AI demand giving it pricing power, with OSAT utilization near full capacity. ASE's leadership calls AI's spread into automotive electronics and humanoid robots a long-term structural shift and says the group is going all out to expand capacity in 2.5D/3D packaging, chiplets, HBM integration and panel-level packaging. AI is built vertically, and without that third dimension none of it works. x.com
ASE Technology should hit a new high within a couple of quarters even though it got ahead of itself, because advanced packaging is insanely important. Its EPS is expected to rise from $0.44 in 2025 to $1.80-2.00 next year. x.com
ASE's panel-level packaging implementation for AMD's Venice CPU gives both companies a reason to do great in the coming years. Per SemiAnalysis, ASE and its subsidiary SPIL implemented second-generation fan-out embedded bridge technology for Venice, with limited initial production targeted for Q1 2027. A 310 mm panel fits 25 interposers versus 22 on a 300 mm wafer, a modest 14% gain rather than a dramatic cost reduction. x.com
ASE Technology's packaging tightness now extends beyond AI to analog and mature-node chips, supporting price hikes. Lead times are up over 30%; FC/Wirebond/QFN hikes of 10–80% and CoWoS hikes of 10–20% are expected in 3Q–4Q26. Higher AMD server CPU wafer allocation, CoWoS adoption for Venice, Verano and future AMD CPUs, and limited competition support LEAP growth. LEAP revenue is forecast at US$4bn/$8bn in 2026/27, above guidance. The target rises to NT$843 from NT$754 on 25x 2027E EPS. x.com
As AI chips grow more complex, packaging becomes more valuable, which favors ASE Technology, the world's largest outsourced chip packager. Its offering spans 2.5D/3D, HBM integration and next-generation packaging. Q2 revenue rose 27% year over year while EPS nearly tripled, and the chart shows a massive cup pattern. x.com
ASE Technology is the layer beneath the Nvidia trade, as advanced packaging becomes a differentiator rather than an afterthought. The largest outsourced assembly and test player packages dies from TSMC and Samsung, and its SPIL unit is a major Nvidia AI-chip packaging supplier. Leading-edge packaging revenue rose 167% to $1.6B in 2025, guided to about $3.2B in 2026. Heavy capex will pressure near-term margins, and at about 28x forward earnings after a 220% rise, it is priced for execution. x.com
Amkor's expansion in advanced packaging supports a bullish growth outlook as that work becomes more important. Packaging accounts for 88% of sales and computing revenue rose 25%; capacity spending explains negative free cash flow. Q3 EPS was $0.76, implying roughly 12x annualized earnings, while Q4 EPS guidance is $0.65-$0.75. The compute opportunity is only starting, despite the decline in mobile. x.com x.com x.com x.com
Agentic AI is creating a server CPU shortage, and packaging suppliers tied to CPU growth, such as Amkor and ASE, own the scarce inputs. Agents run tool calls, state and coordination on CPUs, pushing CPU-to-GPU ratios from about 1:8 toward parity, per Intel's CEO. Arm's new data-center CPU demand doubled to $2B in six weeks, and Nvidia began shipping standalone Vera CPUs. That demand hits a supply chain already stretched in wafers, DRAM and advanced packaging, with relief unlikely before 2028. … Show more
Amtech Systems is a turnaround bet on a savvy CEO who has repositioned it toward advanced AI packaging. Since Bob Daigle took over in 2023, a move to a largely fabless model has lifted gross margin from -2% to 48%, after seven factories, cyclical markets and an Entrepix write-down drove losses. Its reflow ovens see strong demand for GPU and HBM assembly, and panel-level packaging could add orders. Risks: it is tiny against Heller, Rehm and cheap Chinese rivals, and a shift to hybrid bonding. … Show more
TSMC may lose pricing power as performance gains shift from shrinking transistors to stacking, interconnects and optics, while logic folding could make older processes competitive. Despite strong leading-edge demand, investors may overestimate the profit share its node leadership can retain. Its cautious expansion and past reluctance toward advanced packaging suggest a risk-averse culture that protects returns but could leave it late to disruptive technologies and key customers. x.com
Rack-scale AI pods need more wafers and advanced packaging, favoring Applied Materials' equipment portfolio. Applied's slides model two to four times as many wafers per agentic pod; the company says it leads HBM packaging process steps and expects over $2.4 billion in advanced-packaging revenue in 2026. Wiring uses about half of chip power, adding a need for equipment innovation. Applied's WFE share should grow; its optics opportunity depends on scale toward the end of the decade. x.com x.com … Show more
