Aeva is expanding beyond automotive into industrial sensing and smart infrastructure and is backed by Nvidia. Aeva's real move has not started yet, as the stock breaks out of a Stage 1 base into a potential Stage 2 uptrend. It has the ingredients for a violent upside move: a small-cap LiDAR name with heavy short interest, Nvidia backing, Daimler autonomous trucking exposure, European OEM expansion, a Nikon production deal, and physical AI and defense exposure. Aeva is shifting from concept stock to execution story, and a large production design win with an unnamed top-10 European passenger OEM is the key catalyst. Its 4D FMCW lidar measures per-point velocity as well as position, resists glare and interference, and could extend into silicon photonic AI data center interconnects. On the daily chart it broke its downtrend line, shook out weak hands and reclaimed the key 0.5 Fibonacci level. Prior highs near $39 are the next stop; clearing them projects to roughly $57-$69, possibly by summer's end. Aeva is opening a new market as an optical source for co-packaged and near-packaged optics, backed by a hyperscaler program. It signed a joint development agreement with an optical engine player for deployment at a major hyperscaler in H2 2027 and a production ramp in 2028, using its existing high-volume manufacturing and foundry supply chain for external and on-chip light sources. Ouster and Aeva have each doubled in a year on the story that humanoid robots need LiDAR, but no link in that chain looks able to hold its price once capacity catches up. Omdia puts total humanoid LiDAR demand near 400,000 units by 2030, while Hesai alone is scaling toward 4 million units a year in 2026, and Tesla Optimus and Figure 03 rely on cameras. Ouster is a long-term hold that should deliver nice gains a year from now, backed by a wave of new deals. They include a 10-year, 100,000-unit-per-year Rev8 lidar supply agreement with Benchmark Electronics, a multi-year autonomous heavy-equipment contract with AIM Intelligent Machines and a drone-platform partnership with Seneca announced Oct 2. Ouster's lidar and cameras, which let robots and machines see, are winning steady growth and new deployments. Q2 revenue grew 56% to $55M, its 14th straight quarter of product revenue growth. John Deere's GUSS Automation plans to use its Rev8 lidar, which Ouster calls the first native color lidar, in autonomous orchard machines, and a multimillion-dollar Utah expansion brings its traffic system to nearly 300 intersections and roadway locations. x.comÂ
Ouster has a lot of long-term upside as lidar gains traction, and at a $2.2 billion market cap it could make a Rigetti-like move if lidar takes off, since small starting caps allow outsized gains. Drones and robotics still look to have more upside as autonomy becomes real deployment rather than sci-fi, favoring Cognex, Red Cat, Ouster and Unusual Machines.
