Tesla's low-cost, high-margin Cybercabs make its Robotaxi opportunity bigger than investors appreciate. ARK estimates each costs about $30K to make and generates $93K a year at roughly 68% gross margin; Tesla is not bullish enough in investors' eyes. Texas registrations show 1,080 Teslas, including 573 Cybercabs, versus 1,207 Waymos; these are registrations, not active rides. Tesla will need years to compete with Uber on a global scale, so Cybercabs are no immediate threat. Uber serves hundreds of millions of people in thousands of cities worldwide, while Tesla has about 50 Cybercabs in one city with waits of over an hour. x.com 

Scaling Tesla's robotaxi fleet to 5,000 could yield a $584 million annual revenue run rate by year-end. The model assumes 24/7 operation, 40 daily rides per vehicle averaging five miles, 70% utilization, and current fares of $3 plus $1 per mile. Tesla's Cybercab could pay back faster than Waymo's vehicles because its estimated build cost is seven times lower. At 100 miles a day and $3 a mile, a $25,000 Cybercab at $0.25 per mile in operating costs would net about $100,000 a year at a 92% margin, paying back in about three months. A $175,000 Waymo vehicle at $0.60 per mile would net about $88,000 at an 80% margin, paying back in about two years. Uber is still a long-term believer's stock, but it needs to join forces with Tesla, even if that means giving Tesla equity, to boost revenue and shareholder returns, and its large cash pile could fund an acquisition of Lyft. The recent dip was foreseeable once the Cybercab hype began, and Trump buying the stock is no reason to buy it. x.com 

Tesla's robotaxi opportunity is smaller near term than the market priced in because the roughly $60B US ride-hailing market cannot justify the hype. 380,000 unsupervised Q2 miles prove the technology works, but a $300B+ market requires Americans to give up car ownership. Uber and Lyft cost about $2.40 a mile and Tesla's robotaxi about $2.00, versus under $0.80 for a private car. Tesla's Cybercab network could eventually become largely self-running because Optimus may build and service cars while the cars drive and charge themselves. Texas registrations now show 544 Cybercabs versus 507 Model Ys; Tesla added 737 robotaxis since September 1 versus Waymo's 471. Autonomy could expand the ride market tenfold, giving Uber a long growth runway if it does. That is the true 10x opportunity, like ridesharing's expansion of the taxi market.
